The Purgatory (Api Penyucian)
a film by Pierre Tremerel
France / 90 mins
In the heart of the Indonesian jungle, East Timorese refugees have finally settled permanently in the Beinai transitional camp. While their leader recounts his past war crimes, women and children survive in a worrying autarky.
In this tropical purgatory, shaded by coconut palms, they have been waiting twenty years for a return to their homeland in East Timor.
