Chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, actinote...

A diversity of natural rocks reduced to a single word by the industry: asbestos. Long exploited without retreat, today extracted from buildings and recycled, it has generated a new job market, the asbestos removal sector.

By observing the rock at different scales, following it from building sites to laboratories and from laboratories to factories, observing the transformations it undergoes, meeting the workers it crosses and transforms in turn, Chrysotile sets out to tell the story of asbestos. The story of the unlimited exploitation of land and people, starting with the attempt to repair and decontaminate.
The story of a hope for peace, perhaps.

Born in Lyon in 1992. Lives and works in Marseille.
Graduated from ESADSE Saint-Étienne in 2016.

"In my videos as in my plastic work, I focus on what the philosopher Donna Haraway calls "wild facts", in other words those micro-events of reality, those elements unobserved because they are invisible or concealed that require to be "fictionalized" in order to be seen. Light is central to my work. It sets shapes in motion and makes color vibrate, giving rise to fictions somewhere between hyper-reality and the supernatural.
